Navigating the Future of Carbon Neutrality: an interdisciplinary energy research approach

To achieve future carbon neutrality, energy systems are transitioning with high renewable energy penetration. Understanding the energy nexus, which connects energy with other sectors, is crucial due to variable renewable energy pressures and fluctuating energy demand. Energy research must expand beyond traditional boundaries to encompass interdisciplinary and systematic topics. This talk explores future challenges and opportunities in interdisciplinary energy research, including renewable energy system flexibility and the role of digitalization in the energy transition. It emphasizes the importance of time, location, humans, and data in energy transitions. By recognizing these factors, we can navigate the complexities of the evolving energy landscape. This discussion highlights the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to address the multifaceted nature of energy research。

主講人簡介：

歐洲人文與科學院院士、香港工程科學院院士、香港理工大學講座教授、國際能源期刊Advances in Applied Energy（Elsevier）和Nexus（Cell）創刊主編。Applied Energy顧問主編。1991年獲得瑞典皇家理工學院博士學位，2001年受聘為瑞典終身講座教授。曾任瑞典呂勒奧理工大學能源工程系主任，瑞典皇家理工學院和梅拉達倫大學講座教授，未來能源中心主任。

從事可再生能源技術與低碳技術、能源系統集成與優化、碳捕集利用與封存和碳貿易、先進發電技術與儲能，能源高效利用等領域方面研究。在包括Science，Nature Energy，Nature Climate Change等期刊上發表論文400余篇，論著文集70余部，專利10余項。國際應用能源大會主席。國際創新平臺UNiLAB，EnerraXiv，EP，iCET等創始人。英國SUPERGEN新加坡CREATE法國EFICACITY等專家委員會，騰訊CarbonX專家委員會共同主席。世界銀行、亞洲開發銀行、聯合國、歐盟等國際組織專家。曾獲得聯合國環境發發展署支持的全球人居環境綠色技術獎等，全球SWFF獎最終獲提名獎，歐盟Energy Islands’Award，瑞典皇家工程科學院Research2Business Top100.國際綠色能源終身成就獎。
